Dear Fan Club Members:
Since taking office as the new President of Celebrating Patsy
Cline, Inc. in February, we have been able to accomplish a lot and I
want to share some of the highlights with you all. My wife Donna and I
attended our first Fan Club event last Labor Day weekend where we met
several of you.
Before I go further, I want to convey to each of you my ardent desire
to forge a strong relationship between Celebrating Patsy Cline, Inc. and
the Always Patsy Cline Fan Organization. I pledge to you to be highly
accessible, open to your ideas, and become cognizant of your focus,
concerns, and interests. Regardless of what has transpired in the past
either positive or negative, it is in the past, and I along with the
CPC Board are going to be better in terms of working as partners with
you as we collaborate with a shared purpose on these very worthy
projects.
I plan to present the highlights to date during the Labor Day events
plus hopefully be able to announce some very exciting news at that time.
Here are the highlights of the past 100 days:
- We engaged a team of MBA students from Vanderbilt University to assist us with a Business Plan
- We secured a website domain name.
- We have a toll-free number.
- We sought “fast-track” approval from the
Virginia Department of Historic Resources to get an Historical Highway
Marker for Patsy to be installed in front of 608 South Kent. It is to
occur in time for an Unveiling Ceremony on Saturday, September 3. NOTE:
If you would like to be a Sponsor, contact me directly. Those donating
$100.00 for the Marker project will be invited to a special Reception
following the ceremony.
- We have implemented a toll-free
Teleconferencing capability to “connect” people geographically
dispersed to discuss projects, make better and faster decisions,
accomplish more, and be more effective. This tool will be available to
projects with APC members.
- We have created a new “tag line” (see Logo above):
Become a Part of Establishing a Lasting Tribute and Ensuring Her Legacy Lives On
- We have opened discussions with the Adams
family concerning possibly donating 608 South Kent Street to CPC, Inc.
in memory of Fern Adams.
- We have CPC T-shirts, Business Cards and individual email addresses for greater continuity and a stronger corporate identity.
- We have fabricated two (2) large colorful
Banners that will be hung at each end of the Loudoun Street Pedestrian
Mall during Labor Day weekend, March 5 week, and other times during the
year.
- We are creating a Planned Gifts program with
a brochure to enable fans and supporters to have a vehicle for
bequeathing property, assets, etc. to CPC, Inc.
- We are implementing a tiered-level of Membership to the Museum, e.g. Friend, Patron, Platinum, and Hall of Fame levels.
- We have created a 30-second radio spot that
is airing now as a Public Service Announcement in numerous markets.
Contact me regarding getting an .mp3 file to promote in your area.
- We will have an Exhibitor Booth at the CMA Music Festival in Nashville June 9-12. (check out www.cmamusicfest.com). The
objectives include: establish credibility for CPC, solicit Members to
the Museum, forge relationships with the music industry, conduct 8-10
media interviews, and hold a press conference.
- We are in the process of exploring several building candidates on the
Pedestrian Mall in Old Town Winchester for the interim Museum, i.e. 2005 – 2008.
- We are pursuing two (2) major Celebrity Benefit Events as significant
fund-raising opportunities: Nashville (March 2006) and Washington, DC
metropolitan area (September 2006).
In summary, on behalf of the CPC Board, I am extremely proud of our accomplishments to date in 2005, and to think
we have more than six months left before we close out the year!
As I stated at the outset, I promise to be accessible and responsive to
each of you. I welcome your ideas and suggestions and I look forward to
seeing you in Winchester during the Labor Day weekend.
Sincerely,
Philip L. Martin
